In 2019, you won’t get anywhere running a business without using some form of digital marketing to promote it. The fast pace of 21st-century living demands that you keep your finger on the pulse and continually alter and amend your digital strategy in order to keep getting customers through your door or visitors to your website. While for some people it’s simple enough to do this themselves, the vast majority of business owners who want to use digital marketing to promote their business will use the services of a digital agency.
In most cases, it’s a great move – it will save you inordinate amounts of time and allows you access to a team of professionals that can take your ideas and vision, make it a reality, analyse how to get better results and continually optimise their efforts. But the reality of working with a digital agency is that it can often represent a hefty investment for your business, so if it doesn’t pay off, you’re left with a serious hole to fill.
Koncept was created with a vision – to disrupt the world of digital agencies by working creatively, thinking innovatively and breaking outside of the mould. The well-trodden road of mediocrity may be ok for some, but we knew that we could do better, and every day we are driven towards providing a better service for our clients. If you’ve got a niggling feeling that your digital agency isn’t up to scratch, the chances are your instincts are correct. But in case you can’t quite put your finger on it, we’ve come up with a few surefire signs that you need to ditch your current digital agency and try something different. If after reading this your mind is made up, feel free to drop us a line via our contact page.
An endless parade of Account Managers
With a pool of creative millennials making up a significant percentage of the young workforce at present, it’s no surprise that digital agencies have sprung up like mushrooms all over the UK. Most follow a similar structure, with account executives and managers acting as organisational bridges between creative and technical departments, acting as a one-stop-shop for your digital marketing efforts. It’s an appealing idea on paper – one person who knows your business and it’s digital marketing strategy inside out who coordinates the various departments working on your account, ensuring that goals and timelines are met and providing you with a point of contact to get an update whenever you need it.
The harsh reality is this: staff turnover at digital agencies is high. As previously mentioned, there are a lot of digital agencies, and a lot of work for them to get to, with the digital needs of businesses increasing year on year. Simply put – there’s always a better option out there, which leads to frequent job changes to try and climb the ladder. Furthermore, given how low the margins can be on the work that digital agencies do, it can be a struggle to attract and retain good talent when the salary offered is low. What we’re trying to say is this – you may be lucky and have one account manager during your entire time working with your digital agency. This is amazing and they should be commended for their commitment to client satisfaction and customer service. The reality for a lot of frustrated business owners is that account managers seem to come and go like buses. Nobody knows what they’re doing, there’s no cohesion, and as a result, your money is going down the drain because nobody knows what they’re doing.
Now, at Koncept, there are no account managers or account executives. We’re a small team who work collaboratively on every project we take on so every one of us knows your digital strategy inside out. If you feel like your business deserves this standard of service, get in touch.
Delays, empty promises and poor results
Entrusting the digital presence of your business to an outside agency is a massive vote of trust in that organisation, and it goes without saying that any digital agency in this position should take that trust extremely seriously. Digital marketing is such a fundamental part business in 2019 because, after all, if nobody knows who or where you are or what you do, you won’t make any money, and your business won’t last very long. In our switched on, fast-paced world, a great online presence is crucial.
Most of the time when you begin a business relationship everything is positive, enthusiastic and all signs point towards a great ongoing partnership. But it doesn’t take long for cracks to show, and early signs of trouble may be that deadlines are pushed, promises aren’t met and the results that were promised to you aren’t coming to fruition. It must be noted that nobody is psychic and a lot of success in digital marketing, particularly within social media marketing, can be focused on having the right person with the right audience seeing what you’re putting out there leading to a spike in engagement. But if something isn’t working, it becomes obvious quickly. A sobering thought is to consider the damage that can be done to a business when a digital marketing strategy goes wrong. It can lead to the alienation of consumers who no longer feel connected to a brand, which can lead to harsh drops in revenue. Brand values may be overlooked which could represent a huge financial loss when considering the work that was previously put in to build a brand. The essential point is this: your digital presence is not something to be taken lightly or trifled with. If you start to experience any sign that the agency you’re working with is not delivering in any way, the best thing you can do is move on.
At Koncept, we work to gain a full understanding of your business before we even talk about marketing. We need to know what makes you tick, and when we do we will present a comprehensive analysis and ongoing plan to achieve your goals. We communicate, we’re fully transparent and we’re flexible, not bound by the rigid hierarchies and structures in a traditional agency. Don’t deal with the anxiety and frustration of putting up with poor service, drop us a line today.
Lack of accountability
Most digital agencies will have a founder or founding team and a large army of staff below them working in various different departments. If you’ve experienced any of the issues in the previous two points, it’s likely due to the fact that people who see themselves as staff members at an agency ultimately have a lower level of accountability for their work. Managing multiple accounts and a heavy workload, having to delay a project, or not communicating with you because they’re so busy will not weigh on the mind of an employee. After all, how can it? They’re stressed, they’re working on multiple accounts and they may not be able to provide the level of service that they’d love to be offering, but they’re trying to do their best, and losing your business won’t necessarily have any effect on them or the immediate future of their job.
At Koncept, we have a small team for a reason. Most of our team members have been with us since day one, and we have had no staff members leave since we were founded. All of our staff members have a stake in providing you with the best client experience possible because it is all of our responsibilities if you’re not happy. Thankfully, our clients are happy, and we genuinely think we’ve cracked a new, better, more productive and more empowering way of working. It’s better for you, it’s better for us, and we are proud to create and get such fantastic results for our clients. If you’re curious as to how Koncept is different and how we can help you, give us a call today.
